Memorial Run to Remember Pre-Race Kick Off Event

Downtown Ford Lincoln Mercury will be honoring Stark County’s fallen heroes as a sponsor of the Third Annual Private Heath D. Warner Memorial 5K Run and Family Fun Walk. The Run to Remember is a memorial event founded in memory of Private Heath D. Warner, who died defending freedom in 2006.

On May 7th, Downtown Ford Lincoln Mercury will host the Pre-race Registration Kick Off Event beginning at 10 a.m. The dealership will be unveiling the Private Heath Warner Hero Car. The private’s personal car has been restored and will be the tribute car leading the race on Memorial Day. The event will feature local veterans, politicians, as well as Private Heath’s friends and family. All are welcome to attend. A special pre-race registration price of $20 will be available.

On race day, Memorial Day, May 31st, opening ceremonies will begin at 8:30 a.m. followed by the race/walk at 9 a.m. Official Memorial Day Observance will follow at the Canton McKinley Monument.

Proceeds from the race will benefit the Private Heath D. Warner Memorial Endowment Fund. The fund invests in programs and causes that Heath was passionate about, such as building confidence in children, assisting single mothers, help families of fallen troops and returning soldiers.

Last year, over 550 entrants participated in the benefit and the community raised $4,500 for the fund with additional support given to sponsoring the Boyz2 Men program at the Monroe Community Center in Canton, the Young Professional Award at the Living Dance Company, and the Vietnam War Memorial in Clinton, Ohio.

Join Downtown Ford Lincoln Mercury as they inspire the community to remember those who gave their lives fighting for freedom.
